Kembara 1999
Back in Form 5, we sat for Kem Mengembara (Kembara) test which was a pre-requisite before the actual King Scout test. 4 days 3 nights of camp at Kem Kota, Layang-layang Kiri, Bota Kiri, Perak was really fun.
Each of us had to build our own hut and the roof should be water proof! We had “penguji” (testers) testing the stability of the huts we built. A tester even came to shake my hut! The acid test was when each partipants were asked to sleep in the hut and testers will come with buckets of water to check if the hut really “bocor”. Some literally splash water on the roofs. Any hut found to be leaking will most likely fail the test. Some were drenched when their “atap” (roof) bocor!!! Muahahaha. Padan muka. No skill =)
It was really raining on one of the nights but we survived. I don’t think any of our pondok (hut) actually “bocor” (leaked). All of us passed Kembara but Faizul and Faizal decided not to continue with the final King Scout test to prepare for SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Exam). We could have sixteen King Scouts from ACS Sitiawan (including 4 girls scouts - we had amoi and minah in our group you know :) ) that year instead of 8. Wern Wern and Sing Huat repeated the final King Scout test in 2000 for a reason only known to us =). Remember “Peristiwa Ais Kacang”?
