Engineer to be Menteri Besar of Perak

Should the incoming Menteri Besar of Perak is Mr Ngeh from the DAP, I speculate UMNO-putras will take advantage to play the racial cards again. Mat Cemerlangs are at their disposal. The loose coalition DAP-PAS-PKR must have considered this issue to avoid future tensions and possible racial incitement.

Besides, I speculate the coalition have a few issues to ponder:

  1. Will Sultan Azlan Shah have the authority to overrule state laws to appoint a non-Malay as his Menteri Besar?
  2. Will DAP HQ approve a pact between DAP and PAS in Perak?
  3. Should DAP and PAS work closely together, what are the impacts on their performance in the next general election?

There are rumours the coalition in Perak have nominated Ir Mohamad Nizar of PAS for the MB post. We will see how an engineer lead the Perak government. Will there be more fly overs instead of U-turns in Sitiawan? Mr Ngeh who won in Sitiawan could be the next Deputy Menteri Besar… wohooo!

Opposition won in Silver State?

I am extremely excited that the opposition won in 5 states including Perak!  The opposition are expected to form the state governments of Kedah, Penang, Perak Selangor and Kelantan soon. While reading the news online, I almost cried in happiness. With so many odds we are up against, we the voters have made our voice heard!

Let us pray the opposition will try their utmost best to run these states and their constituencies. I also hope there won’t be major bickering in this loose coalition of oppositions. No, they are no longer oppositions in the 5 states! yay!

On another note, a friend in Kajang mentioned she saw similar names in the electoral list yesterday while striking off voters who had casted their votes. Could the opposition have won bigger if indelible ink were used?

I Voted

About 10.15am, I casted my vote in ACS Sitiawan for the first time in my life. Returning to Sitiawan after almost 2 years and casting my vote in ACS Sitiawan was nostalgic. Although Sitiawan has been very well developed, it is still very much the same especially ACS.
Saw a few familiar faces including my mother’s friend and former Add Maths tuition teacher who are members of the MCA. Both requested my friend and I to vote for “them”.

I smiled. :)

Will update with a few pictures I took in due time. It is great to be back where I grew up. Sitiawan and Lumut….

Pergi Jahanam Dengan Islam

I seriously doubt this banner is the work of a non-Malay judging from the words use. The words use are typical of UMNO.

The banner is near an UMNO office and “Hidup Melayu” is a slogan of UMNO.

But we don’t really have proof if it was their work, do we?

Mat Cemerlang mana yang nak mengaku?

Who Should I Vote?

History was my favourite subject in high school. When I was given a book voucher on Speech Day in standard 6, I used it to buy a PMR history reference book published by Sasbadi back in 1994.

History was and still is fascinating. Almost all my classmates in ACS Sitiawan knew my interest and depth of knowledge in history. Scoring A’s for History wasn’t difficult at all. With my frequent discussions with adults and friends of various races and coupled with my understanding of local history, I am able to understand many current issues affecting us which my contemporaries do not. Personally, I find it peculiar when young adults ask about the NEP, Malay rights, May 13 and Read more »

No point in voting good BN candidates

LETTERS: Quotable quotes from MPs
Usman Bawang | Feb 29, 08 4:36pm

There is no point in voting good BN candidates (if there is such a thing).
You will see that there are good BN MPs/representatives in Umno/MCA/MIC etc. Politicians with a bit of spine and some principles. But what’s the point of voting them in when they are overpowered by the hooligans within their
parties?

Good people join BN to change and improve the system from within. They standup for the people but are shot down by the party and system. Why waste your votes on them then if they are powerless? Judge Read more »
