Dishonest Intent
Sometimes I don’t know if I should laugh or be furious at friends who fire salvos of lies on Islam which I profess. All I would do is just listen and respond at intervals. Haha.. I am a guerilla fighter.
It interest me to hear some arguments thrown as well as see sour faces despite not being provoked by yours truly. Oh yes… you should see how awful females look when their faces turn sour. Too bad. Being emo makes you look uglier and not sweeter. LOL.
After almost 8 years of receiving challenges to prove Islam is the truth, I do realize my contemporaries (young, Malaysian adults) can’t get into academic discussion on theology despite they were the ones who initiated these discussions which I didn’t want to delve into in the very first place. A number of discussions became war of words mainly because they don’t have their facts right or worst their scriptures supported my claims without a single doubt. Unfortunately, they and the Satan had managed to get me worked up during those discussion.
I don’t claim to have in depth knowledge of religions but I can safely say I know the fundamentals of the major beliefs around me more than most of my contemporaries due to my involvement in interfaith programmes and passion in learning religions. Unless the other party is sincere, I have not been interested in discussion of faiths since I graduated 3 years ago.
You see….with the experiences I have…. I can sense dishonest intention :)
when i see the title.. somehow it reminds me of the criminal law tat i studied. *grin*
it’s hard to discuss with ppl when comes to religious issue.. ppl will try to prove tat ur religion is wrong but it’s fun nonetheless.. when listenin to 2 intellectual ppl debatin about such issues.
just hope one day we are all mature enough to sit down debate on religious issues with an open mind. :)
religion always has and always will be a super sensitive issue even among own family members, close friends and beloved spouses.
i think the only way anyone can discuss religion with an open mind is if one or more of the following extreme scenarios apply :
1) After a ‘hot’ discussion, all our memories of it are wiped out to prevent any hard feelings or resentments that may break friendships and relationships. This is a trick from the funny alien adventure movie Men In Black.
2) All the participants are atheists and have no particular religious beliefs, therefore setting the stage for a truly objective and mature discussion. This exclude atheists with personal prejudices from good/bad past experiences.
3) Each of us exchange roles to speak for a different religion in the discussion. For eg, a christian defends islam in the discussion and vice versa. This promotes a wider viewpoint and deeper understanding of all religions.
I may be joking on a couple of counts, but one of the above is a real suggestion.
