Prologue
“You have a Story to tell,” said a friend.
Her words inspired me to write about this Story - the X-story - for friends and acquaintance and not strangers.

Many people that have come to know me find me a little mysterious to a certain extent. There have been a lot of questions, gossips, rumours etc etc (you name it) about me especially from acquaintances.
Back in high school, I was a “notorious” person. Almost all teachers knew me and I knew the names of almost all teachers. I was actively involved in the Scouts and the prefect board for a good number of years. There were several other senior positions in clubs which I briefly held. However, it wasn’t my long list of leadership positions which shot me to “notoriety” but I was widely known as the Chinese Muslim boy in school who was a trouble maker (yeah baby!!).
Many Malaysians find me peculiar to be a Muslim but not a Malay. In the Malaysian society, it seems being a Muslim is synonymous to being a Malay and vice versa. Talk to anyone on the street of West Malaysia, almost everyone will acknowledge “Orang Melayu adalah Islam dan orang Islam tu orang Melayu” even in this 21st century. The Constitution of Malaysia even define a Malay as a Muslim. I was of no exception. I even had that perception when I was 7!
This journey has been a colourful and interesting one. This blog is about my journey as a Muslim, a Malaysian and a Chinese all at the same time.
